It didn't take him long to
convince the owner that the wreck was only worth Shs 80,000 and wasted no time
hauling it out of the undergrowth. Convincing his father to front the money was
a different story. But he won out.
That began a saga lasting almost
4 years of a true love hate relationship. He knew nothing about V8 engines then.
He soon learned... the hard way! We all lost count of how many times he blew the
engine, how often he set the wiring on fire, how the carburettors would never
balance.... eventually he got it right.
KRL went through 2 complete
rebuilds, almost 300,000 kilometres and was the test vehicle for every available
modification and "go-faster" add on around. Life revolved around KRL.
